The Cities of Art in The Marche boast the presence of beautiful Cathedrals, rich in works of art and in Diocesan Museums to discover. Chief among them is the Cathedral of Ancona, dedicated to St. Ciriaco, one of the most interesting medieval churches in Italy, where the Romanesque style merges with the Byzantine one. In the cathedral of Pesaro there is a stunning presence of a large floor mosaic dating from the mid-sixth century AD. In the Cathedral of Fermo, rebuilt by Frederick II, it remains the imposing Romanesque-Gothic façade and atrium filled with frescoes of the 14th Century. The Cathedral of St. Emidio, the patron saint of Ascoli Piceno and protector of earthquakes, is worth a visit especially for the crypt which houses the mausoleum of the Saint's body and the wonderful polyptych by Carlo Crivelli.
